Functional Psychiatry
(Coming in 2025)
Please note: In early 2025 I will be in a fellowship program learning the practice of functional psychiatry, so services will become available as I learn.
Functional psychiatry is a holistic approach to mental health care. As a branch of functional medicine, the goal is to determine and treat underlying or "root" causes of mental illness. It is an evidence-based system of medicine that uses both clinical evaluation and laboratory testing to assess nutritional deficiencies, gut health, metabolism, hormonal imbalances, toxic load, inflammation, and more. It is highly-individualized treatment.
Functional psychiatry has been shown to be effective in treating a wide range of mental health disorders.
Treatment may involve dietary and other lifestyle changes, nutritional supplementation, and/or complementary therapies.
Some lab testing is covered by insurance but unfortunately many tests are not yet covered by insurance.
